Are you looking to buy a home near the base, but looking for a unique community with easy access to both Scott Air Force Base and St. Louis? If that's the case, the “Beautiful City” of Belleville may be the ideal solution.  The word Belleville is French for “Beautiful City”, an accurate description of this fine community.  Whether or not you work at Scott Air Force Base, you'll find this city has an ideal blend of qualities that make it an ideal location to call home.

The architecture reflects a unique mix of cultural influences.  There was a large influx of German residents who built what are called "row houses", which are simple brick cottages.  Other styles came into play later in the form of Victorian, French Second Empire, and other styles.  The historic district is a great place to see many of these styles.

And you won't have any problem finding great places to shop and dine.  The historic downtown area alone has a number of local boutiques and food venues.  The parks system in Belleville also offers a wide range of facilities and trails for your relaxation and exercise needs.

Enjoy the Fun and Beauty of Belleville Parks

by

If you buy a home in Belleville, one great perc is the fact that Belleville Parks and Recreation has so many outstanding places to enjoy yourself. You’ll find places to walk, bike, fish, play with your kids, have a picnic, play a variety of sports, and just enjoy the beauty of the city.

The largest park in Belleville is Citizens Park that features two large lighted softball diamonds, along with a main baseball field that is the home field for the American Legion and Althoff High School baseball teams. Daredevils will enjoy the BMX bicycle ramps.  And the kids can romp around on the playground while you enjoy a nice picnic.

For a more scenic outing, Bellevue Park is a tranquil setting where you can fish, play tennis, get in a good walk, or just relax and enjoy the view.  It’s also a great site for small weddings, and there’s also a music facility for occasional live music.

Looking for the perfect park to spend time with your canine friends? The Dog Park at Rotary Park is a great place to play with Fido.  There’s all sorts of amenities to keep everyone happy, even including agility equipment and convenient waste disposal.

Check out the Belleville Parks and Recreation site for a full list of parks in Belleville.
